The AT-Pro is a 15 Freq? Whites needs to compeat with the AT-Pro it has a DD coil, The AT-Pto mite Look Like a toy but its NOT???? Think iLL just keep mine eather way,
But i would Like to see Whites get a Water VLF unit Like or better??? The AT-Pro is gana be hard to beat???
4R land i use a Whites XL-Pro and a Whites Eagle II SL 90 with the Big foot, I used to have a V3i i traded it off 4R the 2 Whites Detectors i have now,
In 1988 i started this Great Hobby with a Blue Box Eagle and went all thrugh the years with Whites, The V3i Lost the audio Qualty of the signal and the Respons yes i know you can Adj recovery speed*&%&$% with all the Bells N Wistles it Lost what a Detector is Post to do????
Back to the MXT its a prospecting unit i think it might be OK in Black sand??? Whites is Post to come out with a Waterproof MXT for X-Msa this Dec???
Juantonio 4R a all around Detector i Like the Garrett AT-Pro its Light Has a fast Recovery has a DD coil 4R seperating Junk ,
Has three tones Hi / Mid / Low 4R the conductivity of your Target and the #s go with the Conductivity not too mutch$$$$$ 4R what you get,
All brands of Detectors ars all over priced??? Can Whites do it????? Good Luck to you Juan N have a Nice X-Mas Mickfin,

Hello Juantonio,

The MXT does not fare well in ocean surf including ocean wet sand, don't be disappointed most top end detectors do poorly with ocean water. If you haven't already tried the prospecting mode try it next time you're at the beach it may calm it down a bit.

However, The MXT does extreamly well wading in mineralized fresh water.

Here's something most hunters don't know, That an MXT in prospecting mode can out do an Explorer or Sovereign/Excalibur in mineralized fresh lakes and rivers. You'll be plucking out targets from the black sand with ease Minelabs will miss do to masking.

Good luck and continue enjoying the hobby,

Loyalities aside ... I would rather use the best tool for the job than to use something not suited just because of brand name.
It is not a crime to have and like more than one brand of detector.
If you want to water hunt, and are a White's man, then there are several detectors made by White's that are designed for just that.

Mickly,

That would be a great water machine, Waterproof MXT retaining the prospecting mode.

The all metal Staccato audio is fantastic, no question it's iron and allows the user to zip through black sand with ease with clear audio separating iron from conductive signals.

The MXT prospecting mode reminds me of the Treasure Baron with GoldTrax module, True all metal with Staccato audio.

If I had the time would waterproof an MXT using a Whites Beachhunter housing, it can be done.
