Waterproof headphones vs. Non-Waterproof headphones

That depends on how they are sealed, to what depth rating, speaker or piezo can make.a difference as can muffs.
Yes, waterproof koss have piezo speakers and are much quieter than per say killer bees or black widows or probably any higher end land headphones. I put gel pads on my koss phones to help seal out more noise and add comfort. They are still not loud by any means even at max. My land phones have similar volume at around 20 out of 25 on the nox.
