Waterproof headphones release date?

COINHAWKER

I like to know when Minelab will be releasing their waterproof headphones. It is now summer and no headphones for the summer yet? They made a waterproof detector.

I've had mine for just about a month now. call around, some dealers have them or had them.

By the way, you will have low volume with them, I added silicone to the inside of the earcups and covered the vent and drain holes to quiet the ambient noise from wind and waves.

They seem to be like the EQX800 roll-out. A few hit the market and then a LOOOONG pause. I'm on a waiting list and no idea when I'll get them. I'm also on the waiting list for GG phones, and waiting on a reply email from a guy in Florida who is making them.

I NEED a set of waterproof phones for this. As soon as I get about 3 foot deep in the water, the controller starts going under which kills the signal ( yeah I've been playing roulette with my BT-80 phones :yikes: ) The worst part is getting a deep hole going, and I can't put the detector down closer.

Think I'm going to start packing my CTX or Excal for going farther out.

I have mine which came from a dealer in NY. I also moded a cable of my own and ran thru my CF shaft I made and installed the M12 8 pin connector in a end cap behind my arm rest. All my CTX phones work with it so the Minelabs are a backup. They do seem to come out in spurts. I did prepay $149.00'up front though.

Jason...... i figured youd have several pair of waterproof phones just laying around. Mode the adaptor buddy its a pretty simple task. You must be waiting on Harolds phones?

I have some from the CTX but I'm not going to try cutting and soldering anything together to make them work. Sory, I can't say Tony's name here since hes not a sponsor. heck, hes not even a manufacturer, just a guy building in his garage.

If you have an Excalibur and a CTX-3030 why are you even taking the Equinox into the water?
I seriously doubt the Equinox can match the performance of either one of those machines in the salt water.
I would have never bought my Equinox 600 had I had either one of those machines.

Oh no, no, no, no! The EQX is by far the better machine to BOTH of those for hitting small low-conductors. It's better at hitting deep silver than my CTX, better at gold than both of them, lighter and cheaper than either. Not to mention its far more waterproof than the CTX. I'm keeping my excals for scuba and beach backup and the CTX is now a land backup.

So I bought a pair. A bit disappointed with the lower volume for my old ears. Wish they had a vol adjust. They seem to be decent quality, but made in ….. well you know...….china.

Agree, for that price they should put out better volume. Not so sure they tested these out with the right people before releasing them.

I will be opening mine up to see the issues. It could be a limiter ( doubtful ) a small piezo or just loaded with silicone for waterproofing. At any rate a 50mm piezo and removal of the silicone should fix it for me as I don't dive ( at least not on purpose ) Lol. Will keep you posted.

I see a few people are using and modifying an M12 4 pin plug to create a pair of waterproof headphones , I don’t see why you can’t just buy a pair of Garrett or other underwater phones and modify them and use them for the Nox, I think i’ll gather the components and try it, tired of waiting for Minelab and might even learn something.

I dont think you understand what the headphone plug connector is like. Can something be modified? sure, and people are doing it, but its not simple

Thanks for giving some input everyone! I appreciate it. Hoping to get those headphones soon as dealers have them in stock.
