Waterproof detectors?

Are there any other rain-proof detectors other than the ATPro ? I live in Oregon and plan on doing alot of detecting this winter and rain jackets just don't cut it.

if you happen to buy new ive actually been astounded by the second hand prices on ctx3030s in the 1700$ range which makes the new tech much more appealing

If you opt for an Excalibur plan on putting it on a balanced straight shaft because the stock one is a torture chamber for any kind of land hunting. I know, because I've tried that. At least buy a shaft extension that goes on the back of the stock shaft so you can mount the pod behind the elbow and get it more balanced. The upside is the Xcal is one deep machine and it's numerous tone alerts and rich long detailed audio allows many land hunters to hunt only by ear who prefer not to use a meter, just like some Sovereign guys do. Had a Tiger Shark and I really like how it's waterproof battery holder goes together. Used it on land some but it doesn't have tone alerts.

AT-Gold. I use one in the water, its a little hotter on gold than the AT-Pro. It has an all metal mode and 2 disc modes.

My Tiger Shark is and its for sale. Check Classifieds.

Fisher 1280-X, spotted one of those for sale in the classified recently.

Some interesting threads on waterproof cases over in the modification forums if you want to try the DIY route.

Ya know, I have one of those picture frames that has a full-function remote. My car stereo has one (overkill tech, that one!) and even my camera offers an optional remote. A detector with a remote would make it easier to seal the head up in a tupperware tub and you operate it from outside. Such a thing could be done, nowadays, and probably log your target data to remote laptop sitting in your rig at the same time!

But then, if you had such a detector, how long would it be before your buddies with the same unit would start using their remotes to run your machine, waiting to see how long it takes you to notice that they set your machine to full disc and zero sens, etc.. ;)

Excal with a stright shaft and a hip mount .Awesome set up and fantastic on coins and jewerly. I would also look at the 1280x which is a good waterproof machine that can be had cheap but no good for salt water .
