Waterproof detectors

Not looking for ones to go diving with, looking for ones that I can set it down in the water while I bend over to recover a target, say 3 to 5 foot deep water. I'm not a diver, but in the summer heat I wouldnt be apposed to going into the shores of rivers and what not to do my work. Also dont want to have to mortgage my house to fund it. I already have an F5, and what I paid for it was about as high as I was willing to go. So price range of say 250 to 500 at most.

Whats out there and whats good to get and whats not good to get and why?

Thanks all, so glad to be part of a community that helps others, :)

If you are hunting fresh water the AT Pro is great choice in your price range. A Tesoro Tiger Shark works well in fresh water. The good salt detectors are out of your price range.

Get yourself an older Tesoro land unit that hipmounts and turn the disc. to zero and the gold rings will come in freshwater. Tuck the box in your waders or mount high on your body.
As the other poster noted good saltwater units are expensive...

I would not recommend any land unit, as sooner olater you will dip it in the water. Look for an older underwater model Tesoro Stingray or Stingray II. You can also find an used Tiger Shark for under 500 dollars.
