Waterproof cz5

cz5 uk

New member
Hello,
I have a fisher CZ5, can anyone please tell me, if this metal detector waterproof, such as coil etc.
Any information would be grateful.

Regards,
Steve.

Steve, the coil should be water proof up to the connector. The CZs are great hunters. I use a CZ70 in the water and it does a fine job. You want to be careful not to get the connector or the box splashed hard or submerged. A lot of guys take the box off of the handle and wear it around their chest in a mount for added safety. I am sure some others will chime in with more details. You should enjoy the CZ.

Hi Steve, I think all CZ are splash proof and rain proof, not total waterproof. The older they get, the less they are. Try not to get it to wet, but if you get in rain it wont hurt it. Flintstone

CZ5 and CZ3D are not considered splash proof. Not sure about all of the digital front panel CZ7 / 70 series, but I think those are.

My understanding of the splash proofing for the 6 / 6a is that there are gaskets on the front panel, seals on the potentiometer shafts and no speaker so the opening for a speaker does not give rain or a splash a way into the detector. CZ5 and CZ3D have speakers. None of them are not water proof (except the CZ20 / CZ21) so don't dunk the box in the water. As noted above, the coils are water proof.

The 6 and 6a have a seal, rubber rectangle, on the battery door also/
