Someone on the Treasurenet forum stated that the Explorer XS coil was not waterproof and as such should not be dunked under the waves. I was under the impression that it was. What,s the answer ?

The Stock coil as well as the ML 8 inch are both waterproof as well as most of the aftermarket coils. there seems to be lots of experts out there that ever even used the explorer

I wonder if they were not talking about the Joey the aftermarket coil made for the Explorer by Coiltec as there was some discustion on it.

Minelab's latest brochure.I have a personal
belief that it is not 100% "waterproof".The 8" coil because it is epoxy FILLED is 100% waterproof.
There are now several waterproof coils available
that are epoxy filled, Minelab's 8",coiltec's WOT
15" and Sunrays Stealth 8"

I think there are some people who are using false submersity problems as subversity of the best detector available at this moment in time.
Jerry.
