Just found it at Amazon for 29.00, Model JDC38W [attachment 39761 jazzcamera.jpg]Just saw this, I know its cheap, 38.00 but if it works good enough for some beach and treasure shots I may get one, Jazz Waterproof Camera, supposed to be good down to 9 feet, digital and has usb port. what do you think

Hi Norm,

It looks well made, how many pixels does it have and what would you be taking pictures of in the rain or under water. The price is good, and cheap doesn't mean bad these days lots of competition out here with cameras.

Regards Maureen

Good for a start.........if it breaks then not much harm done.

When beach hunting sometimes we wish we could take a photo of something and we dont take our more expensive digital cameras cause they dont like salt water and spray if one gets dropped. Also when useing it kayaking and geocacheing it may come in handy. This one only 1.3 pixals with 8 mmb built in memory, photo quality probably not that great but its cheaper than my Sony or the boys Kodak units if it takes a dunk.

Got a similar one... great for sunny days at the beach, but dont expect any close up pictures. I think the closer you can get is 3 feet or something like that.

After buying 3 xcals since June and 2 Garmin handheld GPS units last week and 2 Dell notebooks all for the boys im about down at the bottom of the barrel. I dont want them to deep six one of the good cameras but 30.00 bucks right now sounds like a deal, heck, I can spend that in a day just feeding them on their eat out food.

I picked it up locally for $450 US but everything is much more expensive here because it is expensive to ship things and there is a high duty to be payed on all imports (basically everything).
This camera is 7.1 megapixels, waterproof to 10 feet as shown (add an optional case for $110 and it is good to 30 feet), easy to use and takes great pictures too! It even takes up to 3 minutes of video with sound.
It's more than you want to spend I agree, but you could probably pick one up stateside for around $300. I'd find a couple more rings and get something good. With your crew that shouldn't take long.

Good Luck Norm,

BDA:cool:

Norm, you can make your own decisions but if I were in your shoes I would pass on a Jazz camera. These are what we call "Toy" cameras. They have a low resolution (not megapixel) image that looks horrible. The plastic lens makes it worse. The images will not be anything better than what you'd expect from a toy.

Seriously
