Waterproof an Eldorado

New member
I have an Eldorado and want to make it waterproof for up to 8 feet. Has anybody done this or do you have any ideas? Also what would a person do for headphones?

There's a couple different waterproof boxes out there that will work.

Khouse I think is the fellow who's posted mods that would probably apply.
I think he did the Otter Ace....

A Pelican case is one of them.. can't remember the other right now.

There are waterproof headphones with a piezo speaker.

Search through the Mods forum or the Water and Beach Forum???

If no one comes back with the spot-on info for you, I'll look for it.

This is a link to putting an Edge into a waterproof box from the mods forum....

All the regular guys are involved in it, with all the info you need.

I like mods!

I used an "Otterbox" 3500. I believe that they are rated to 200'.

Also did the same mod to an Ace 150.

I used an Otterbox 250 to make a diving rig out of a Tesoro Sidewinder with a 4" coil. For the diving rig, I bought submersible headphones (The Garretts were the least expensive I could find) and spliced them into a standard headphone jack.

The other two machines are 'waders' and I just used normal land-phones. For the Sidewinder/diving-rig, I put sheet-lead into the otterbox to keep it from trying to float. That's partly why I used a Discovery 1100 and an Ace for my first tries.

I used "Shoe-Goo" to plug all of the holes. Everything has been watertight so far.

You will want to use a coil that doesn't float, otherwise they are hard to keep on the bottom!
