Howdy Bootyhoundpa--

It looks like you have a U.S. Marine Corps button similar to Albert's MC 10A or 10E. It's hard to tell from your pictures. The exact backmark on MC10E is " Waterbury Button Co. Waterbury Con." Sorry that I can't give you a positive identification but it IS a Marine Corps Button. Good find! Best of luck and ...

Much appreciated blind squirrel. .. that gives me a great reference point for further research...i initially thought marines when i dug it then thought maybe navy...this button is small ,smaller than a dime ..i assume maybe shirt or sleeve due to small size.. thanks again friend..
