water shoes

There is a sporting goods store with a Big and a 5 in it's name that has inexpensive water shoes on sale this week through Sunday. The usual price is $14.99, but through Sunday they are on sale for $9.99. I'm sure there are better ones, but I've never tried water shoes before, and being on social security the price was a factor, so I'm going to give these a try. I usually just wear a pair of my worn out street shoes for the wet and very shallow water.

Got some Red head neoprene booties w zip sides over 10 yrs ago at Kmart for 15.00. Still using them. No low top water shoe ever lasted any length of time for me.
Looks like I'll have to replace them soon though.

I am on my 3rd pair from the Fig Bive. They last me about 18 months. I keep a cloth book bag in the back of my wagon and it allows them to dry and not go sour between outings.

I have a pair of dive booties with zip up sides. I tried a pair of those low water shoes and kept getting sand in them. My second pair since 1993.

If you want to keep the sand out in the ruff surf go with a set of the neoprene high top soxs also, think mine are 2mm sure saves the toes...

When I plan on getting in the water I wear a pair of Dive Boots. They zip up and are snub round the ankle so that I get very little sand in them.

Yesterday I wore a pair of shoes that I have been using for detecting as I had not planned on getting in the water. Wound up wading toi waist level and detecting in the wash zone. Got home and had so much sand in my shoes that it took a while to get all of it washed out with the garden hose.

The water shoes that I have seen and once sold at a store where I worked will not keep the sand out. Your feet most likely will suffer from the sand in them.

I have some Aqua Lung EchoZip 6.5 mm. They come up past my ankle and zip up. I spray them off ever time I come home and treat them with a spray to keep them nice. They work great to keep my feet protected from sharp objects in the water and keep the sand out.
I bought them from a dive shop here in town.
