Water proofing a Ace 250

Flintstone

Well-known member
Hi all, About a year ago someone posted that they put a Ace 250 in a water proof box. I tryed a search but can,t remember who posted it. If someone knows where the post is could you post it for me. I can,t get a new detector now but maybe i can make one. Thanks Flintstone

If by weatherproofing you mean protecting the electronics from rain,
I just wrap cellophane around it and tape it down. Never had a problem
keeping the electronics dry, and it's a cheap solution.

I made 2 different ones a few years back using some 150's. I used an Otterbox on one and a watertight food container(can't remember the brand) on the other. Get ready to do some unsoldering and soldering to get the coil and 'phones in and you'll need some cable flow-thrus too!! Builing a cable extension may also be necessary, was for me.

Google "Lake Looter" and I think you'll find the thread that you are looking for. Those food containers do not appear to be available any longer, they have a different appearance and a new part number.
