Water proof detector pro headphones on X-cal?

Has anyone used the detector pro headphones on the X-cal 1 or 2 before? Will minelab hardwire them? Im curious to know what these headphones do for sound improvment.I dig alot of copper artifacts in my area with the X-cal 1 and 2 and mostly listen for the higher tones but alot of my junk items such as brass shotgun shells come in just under the high sound of a quarter.Sometimes there is barely a tonal difference between the two. Will adding these phones crisp up the signal perhaps making the high tones even higher? Thanks for your help, Steve

Hello Steve,

I use the Gray Ghost Underwater series headphones on all 3 of my Excals and love them. Minelab installed all of them for me. They install the male end of the battery pod into the top of the control housing and a female ikelite connector on the headphones (you can buy them with this already installed). Joe DeMarco at DeMarco Detector Sales (a Findmall sponsor) has the headphones in stock at a competitive price and is VERY knowledgeable about the product. Minelab can also install the female ikelite connector onto the stock headphones, in the event you have a failure and need a back-up pair. The cost of labor to install is around $75.

Copper and brass can be VERY similar in my opinion. Brass seems to be somewhat lower toned though, imo. It is going to be difficult to differentiate or discriminate either though, no matter how good the headphones are.

The Gray Ghost Underwaters are more trebley, than the stock headphones, but MUCH BETTER QUALITY! They are lighter, fit better on your head, there is less wind noise AND the tonal quality is sharper. I will not use stock again, as I feel there is a distinct advantage, in what I'm able to hear, over stock. I would HIGHLY recommend you try a set.

Hey GH Can you add photos i will like to see the finish product
Thanks
Hunter

Lemme see what I can do Hunter. Could be selling one of my units soon. I think that I'm about ready to part with my original 1000. Will list on Classifieds soon. Just got it back from Minelab, with a clean bill of health, but I need to take her back out and giver a spin. Who knows, I may fall in love with it all over again, LOL!
