Water metal detecting - RING IN THE SCOOP - salt lake

sdesic

New member
I had a blast on my second salt water lake hunt.
There is no real treasure but I have a story...

Bunch of people gathered to watch me detect shallow water
even there was a guy who was swimming a lap in 55F water :)
When I got something good I wanted to pick up that scoop and carry it home (with pebbles inside).

Here is the ring I found.
I looked at it (it was gold colored) and if fell in scoop again...

Big stainless ring :(

Here is YouTube video for this hunt.

Still a nice ring for a display. I found on GOLD ring while on vacation in Florida I quickly put in my pocket that turned out to be TC :stars:

Nice ring and cool video! I have a question for you, do you find that you get less depth on a rocky beach like that then a nice sandy beach. I know I have a few spots similar with stones like that and seems I may get half the depth I normally do in sand.

OBN,
I really can't confirm or deny that because I mainly hunt fresh water and this one is salt water lake.
My Aquanaut is working at sensitivity 6-7 in salt lake ... and in fresh I can do max (11).
This lake is man made and it is in use 4-5 months a year. It has rubber layers underneath.
With pipes and some metal parts - concrete with reinforcement... it is good for targets - they can't escape.
At the end of the year it is drained so we get that too :)

I have found many rings I call gold-ish. I usually take a middle course about secretiveness with good looking finds. The nicer they are the quieter I get. The more crowdeder the beach the quieter I get.
