I need some advice on the purchase of a beach detector. I will be hunting on the dry sand and in the water, most of the time l will be in fresh water but plan on some salt water beach hunts . Thanks:twodetecting:

Dude, to make a proper recommendation we need a little more info...scroll down a few posts to the one Elton posted about "thinking about buying a metal detector..."

Depending upon where you live, all beaches and sand conditions are not the same...here where I live, I have miles and miles of fresh water sand ranging from high dunes to long stretches of flat and void beach that is in constant motion from the wind and waves....

If you only plan on wading knee deep, on small old inland beaches in calm inland water..thats a thing we need to know...if you plan on wading any deeper, like up to your chest, or in big water that can get rough, or even in the rain if you live in the PNW region, then that helps narrow the choices down considerably. If 80-90% of your hunting will be fresh, and you want a great unit that will be good for the various hunting situations mentioned, then have a look at an AtPro.

If you get good and addicted to water hunting, after a few seasons you will by then be educated enough to step up for a better salt capable machine if you are so inclined, but a fair warning about water/beach hunting...ITS TOUGH! Generally unrewarding, miles and hours of no finds or signals...cold, wet, miserable most of the time, hot, windy, and buggy the rest ...requires a lot of specialized gear to do it right, very hard on the body, and the interior of your vehicle getting all covered in sand. Not trying to discourage you in any way, just to give you a heads up so you dont make a big purchase only to find out you dont like it. Good Luck!
