WATER HUNTING need help

LS hunter

Member
I have a LS its too hard to use for a first timer ! I have been in detectoring for a long time,on land that is!! THE help i need is what water detector is best used for salt water, that
is where I'm will be using it the most,Florida is where ill be with it!!! IS there a water detector that can tell you what your detecting,THAT is why I'm getting rid of mine man i dug a lot of junk!nd the learning curve is large!!!!so im looking for a detector that is not too hard to learn and it will tell you some what what u have found!!!! is the fisher 21 any good, is it hard too use,HOW is the NEW EXCALIBER // ANY help THANKS!!

If you have an Infinium LS already then why would you change machines? Take the time to learn the machine, do some research to overcome the learning curve with the Infinium LS which is pretty steep at first but a cakewalk after that. A smaller coil will help if you're using the 14".

Cheers,

The Excal 2 is an Excal 1 with pretty colours and pinpointing that nobody needs anyway.

THANKS FOR THE HELP!! I did find a ring today and it was deep about 7 inches,i alwaya hunted on land, water hunting is hard work thw waves beat you up!!!!!

Don't give up on the Infinium . Go to the Garrett Infinium Prospector Network Forum. Lots of great tips on running the machine. I have both the Excal and Infinium and wouldn't get rid of either one.

I've been swinging an Excal 1000 in the water for the past 2 years. Waterhunting is exciting and physically demanding , it can also be dangerous. Dirtfishing is pretty tame by comparision.
The heavy coil on the Excal 1000 will give you a workout, the new coil is a little lighter but not much. The Infinium coil is like a feather by comparision.
The Excal can be easily set up and run by someone of average intelligence, to get the best results from the Excal involves a lot of tweaking but it's pretty close to turn on and go.
The Infinium requires ground balancing and a couple of other set up tricks to work well in the salt water. Once set up at the beginning of the hunt it's fine, especially with the new coil wire.

Good to see you found gold, Congrats!

Looking forward to seeing more loot once you really learn the Infinium LS - 80% Hunter and 20% Detector.

I have been hunting with the Excal for years and thought I might like to try a LS. I have had it for about 3 weeks and have about 30 hours on it. Once set up it is pretty easy to use and so far I have found 2 nice gold rings. The big secret to the LS is that you have to chose your sites. The LS is best used in fairly clean, hunted out sites where the trash is at a minimum. The last gold ring I dug with the LS I know I have been over with the excal and it never read it. I have been also been digging some pretty deep coins in the same area. Will the LS replace my Excal-No, but there is surely a place for it when conditions are right

THANKS for your help!! is the GARRETT that good, its just so hard too use,and on the beach its real heave,i just dont
under stand what its telling me!!!!ITS my first PI detector,IS the Excal A VLF. DICRIMANATION is not so good with the LS too!!!!
THANKS FOR your help!!!!!!!!!!

and learn it. Dont forget to use the tones and Iron check as much as possible. You can also de-tune it because it is very powerful as it was made for Gold Prospecting. (set disc to 2-3 and threshold on 0-1) Now it will stable in the salt. And still more powerful than standard PI's and definatly VLF's.

If you dont like the weight use the hip mount. it is comfortable and just sites on your waist. Hip mounting is the way to go in water with waves bashing you.
Good luck...go to the Infinium forum...do google search for it.

It is still the best VLF machine for the surf in my opinion. I am looking to add a PI machine to my arsenal but I haven't made a final decision. I almost went with the Infinium but I am now waiting to see what White's comes out with. There should be some serious new PI Heat on the beaches soon by all accounts from the test fields.

Excal 1000

I use the Infinium in the under the cuff position, both land and water hunting, I also dive with the same setup. At the beach I only use it in the water and on the wet sand as there is too much rubbish in the soft dry sand. I find I can comfortably hunt in this setup for quite a while, I even use the same setup when prospecting. Once you learn to decipher what the unit is telling you, look out loot! I believe that the Infinium LS is the best value, all rounder on the market to date. HH regards Nugget.:detecting:
