John,
I have followed you posts now for at least 8 months and have to say that your posts and success with water metal detecting has kept me going. I was hunting our salt water beaches with a high end detector without much luck except for finding penny's. Your success at finding rings and more at fresh water beach's made me realize that there has to be something at our beaches. I put my highly computerized detector away and brought out the big gun! My Garret Infinium has helped me dig up 4 gold rings, 3 silver rings, bracelets, neck chains, watches and not to mention enough change to pay for the HST on my coffees.
Attached is the first ring that I found at a local salt water beach. This beach is heavily searched with metal detector-est from a club that I belong to here in Vancouver and so was quite surprised to find this ring not 4 feet from where a local active detector-est had just dug a hole. The ring was at least 8"s down and as beautiful coming out of the dirt as the day it feel in. The ring, according to its hallmarks, was made in 1938 and assayed in London, England. This ring waited for me and my Infinium to find it on a beach that was not suppose to have anything of interest left in it.
John, I have just started to visit some fresh water lakes and I was wondering, with all that you have found, how far into the water did you have to wade. Or did you find most of your rings on the beach?
