OK I have been reading about hunting the beach and hitting the waves where they break? I was wondering where they are talking about. When the tide is in or when it is out. I use a Whites PI Dual field and dam my arms and back are getting sore I have found enough bobby pins and fish hooks and weights to start a store.I am waiting on a book from Clive I think been two weeks now. Just wondering if I am in the wrong place or is it I am just not hitting the good stuff. Thanks..

Hit it when the tide's out. Where the waves break at high tide you can get to at low tide. Look for a trough a shory way out at low tide. That's the spot

Well sounds like I have been doing it wrong always looked out there when the tide is low but figured too flat nothing there no sand taken out. I have been an avid hunter for years always hunted the beach as tide is going out where the waves rip the sand not always good but not bad now I guess ill go out and hunt what I call the flat. Thanks. I cant wait to get this dam book.

First you need to understand that small light objects are first to wash into the high tide areas, so move out till you stop getting bottle caps and only go at low tide if can . If your main beach has steap slop, well you are going to have to dig every thing. I would get an excal and save the pulse for special situations, like an area that you know has rings but is gone over very regularly so much so that it has almost no trash, the mian beach here in cocoa has so many hunters so often that some times i only get 10 targets in an hour, pluse time, but at other locations its one object after an other, VLF time. Keep going you will hook up.

ok everyone says I have a very potent machine whites PI DF all i do is dig what is this excal you are talking about are there ny used ones out there and what is a good excal thanks Butch.

:blink:So thats why your coat didn't fit me......................you need a 50lb scoop it might even you out

If you are hunting where the wave breaks its a catch all for all the junk everyone throws away... go out into the water deeper... the PI is best out there... look for (troughs) area's that look and feel like depressions.. look for area with a lack of sand and are replaced by shells and gravel its these area's that hold the gold... you have one of the deepest machines out there use it to your advantage...

Save the junky area's for a VLF detector but also learn the slight tone differences the Dual Field gives off... I don't dig bobbiepins or iron for that matter... and I run the same detector as you do... bottlecaps, wire, nails and bobbiepins do not have the same tone that say a coin or gold has... you should be listening for the deepest whisper targets or narrow sounding targets... you have the advantage hunting with a PI...

The only reason why my arm looks like that Max is from carrying all my gold :bouncy:

I have had this machine for a year now and I am finally getting to know the sounds. Been working with in in fresh water also sounds in the water in lakes and ponds are super loud. where do you set you machine settings I have three?

thanks Butch

Gain on/off is 3 o'clock... the threshold I like a little louder and I set it at 1 pm the pulse delay I turn to the left at around 7 o'clock... factory settings can be used if the ground conditions are too noisy for you but I lkike to run it wide open... I rarely hunt freshwater and cringe at the thought of using a PI in freshwater ;)
