went with my wife to her convention for the purple heart and called up jackpine savage to do a little detecting while i was up his way
so we picked a day to go to the beach ,nice day too slightly windy and cool with the water temp a little cooler still(ok down right cold right now) put on the waders and hit it hard for about 4 hours heres a pic of the loot and a few we have'nt I.D.ed yet there the ones covered in black crust(we know there coins just dont know what yet) anyway heres the pics

two day total for me as i went the day before to another beach

jackpines finds the black crusty coins are top right and lower right under the penny
as you can see this ones been in the water a while

this one a state seal ring too bad its not gold but it polished up good

we ended up with 5 rings two of them silver the rest are junk or plated

John it was great meeting you on Saturday. Too bad you could not stay longer and I apologize about the Cold Water! :lol:

Those crusty coins are both silver dimes but there is not enough detail to tell what they are. From past experience I presume they are Mercs. This is the only beach around that old silver get that thick crust on them.

Looks like I missed some good detecting!!! I have found a few beaches where the black crud is bad. You can wait till it dries and then break it off to find what the coin is. I can't read the ring. Do you know what it says?


Great finds. Water isn't that cold anymore!!!
