Water Detectors

Hello Fellow Seekers,

Help! I'm seriously considering the purchase of a water detector and the three on my list are the Minelab Excalibur, Garrett Infinium & Fisher CZ-21 but not necessarily in that order. All three appear to be fantastic detectors and each has a long list of abilities most, if not all detectorist, have come to enjoy. Presently I'm bending toward the Fisher CZ-21 but am open to hearing your thoughts on the other two. So ... You know the drill ... ha!

Check out the Finds Forums Garrett Infinium Classroom and also the Garrett's Infinium Prospectors forums for excellent Infinium info.

Good Luck,

CJ

CZ'20/21 has multi tone,4...iv owned all you mentioned and like the Excal ll far better.

The Excal has the least learning curve of the 3 and is excellent at nulling out the iron targets and sniffing out the gold. Good luck on finding the machine that is right for you. If you do get an Excal, order a straight shaft at the same time, makes for a much less tiring hunt!!

well that can certainly be argued.

What you fail to include is what type of water you plan on hunting in.
Nice calm lake water?
Rolling saltwater surf?

The Excalibur will do great anywhere but if your preference is only fresh water other less expensive detectors will do the job.
However, it makes no sense to scrimp on a detector that will pay you back every time you use it.
Get the Excalibur II ... You will not regret it.

Might want to take a look at the Sea Hunter too. BTW I have a Infinium, Sea Hunter, Excal 2 and Excal 1000
IMHO the Sea Hunter is the most overlooked and under rated water detector out there. Hunt it with the 10x 14 C coil low and slow and it is deeper than all the rest

Eric, if you could keep only one of the detectors you have for water hunting ... which one would it be?

Not sure what your budget is or type of water, but the Fisher 1280 is still being made and it is one bulletproof detector. I wonder how many finds have been made with this old time favourite over the years. I never hear of this machine anymore and it is still made as I emailed Fisher to find out. Good luck whatever you decide......
