Hello everyone I am new to this site but not new to detecting I stared back in 1978. but have been inactive for the last 10 years . now I am ready to get back in action. can anybody tell me what water detector is best now a days VLF only.. between fisher CZ-21 and whites beach hunter id 300 I am interested in depth mostly but needs to be stable so you can tell noise from good stuff ..also back in my time I don't remember finding many small gold rings lots of high school rings and wedding bands.... .how are these on small gold rings also never found a gold chain on its own. thanks so much for any help. Jerry

I have the BHID with the older coil the machine is 2 years old.
Last summer was my first good season with it.
To pratice pinpoining and get the feel of the machine before going in the water with it I detected soccer fields.
With the three light indicator it was a good indication for my time in the w ater.would be like.
I found all kinds of target that could have been the same as water items.
Lots of clad and the usual junk.
The best finds were 2 silver rings and one gold band.
I dug ever thing to see what it was.
Some of our newer coins were red led light because of the iron % in them.
In the water I dug every thing also as I'm still new to the detector.
It 's choice of color in the light is true to its indication of what is for your choice to retreave or not.
I'm happy with its performance .
There is also a power program that you can get from R-n-R that really soups up the machine.

Joel,

What is the power program you are referring to? What is R-n-R? What does the program do? I would like to know more about his if you could point me to it.

Thank you

What he is referring to is a method to up the sensitivity and re-ground balance the BHID. It is used in all metal mode with this method and it does make the BHID go deeper ( I have a BHID 300 and I always use this when applicable and always hunt in all metal with it due to it's ability to help ID in all metal).

Below is what I cut and pasted from a prior post from R-n-R

Beachhunter ID Tips for Significantly Increasing Depth.

1- turn on the BH & go through the normal set up (steps 2 through 4)
2-set sens to pre-set with mode switch in disc mode.
3-turn threshold control to faint threshold
4-set mode switch to all-metal mode& ground balance machine normally
5-after ground balancing & while still in the all-metalmode, turn the sen. to max. the threshold will change to a high shrill.
6-hit the reset to return to a normal threshold
7-return to the all metal mode & re-do the ground balance. there will be a narrower window within which to balance at this time.
8-leave the mode switch in all-metal mode & begin hunting. there will be a marked improvement in depth.
9-*** NOTE ***- there will no longer be tone identification between targets. However , the target identification lights will still be accurate

Hope this helps.

JC
