Water detecting

Member
Just heard that my waterproof headphones for the AT Pro are on back order from Garrett, so I have a newbie question, does this mean that I can not water detect with the land headphones if I do not submerse them or do I have to have the waterproof ones to get the control box wet?

Just don't get the headphones wet...hunt all the way up to your neck if you want...good luck

Thanks for the quick response, I was hoping that was the case.

The new Gray Ghost Amphibians are said to be great headphones. I had a set of the Blue Garrett ones. Do yourself a favor and rethink your purchase.

I am trying to do this as we speak, I called my dectector salesman and told him what I want to do (cancel backordered blue and switch to Grey Ghost), and I am awaiting a response

Extreme Detecting is a forum sponser and is the guy you want to go to for those Grey Ghost Amphibs. See the banner at the top of the page!! Great 'phones, love mine!!

Been using he blue Garretts and they have been working fantasitically under the water; much silver, clad, lead, and gold. Now, I have not tried the Grey Ghost Amphibiams. I am sure they are fantastic, especially if they sound like the Garrett's land headphones, but they are double the price. I'll probably own a pair someday, paid for by the blue ones.

The difference in the Blues vs. the GG Amphibs is no contest. The Blues work no doubt about that, but the Amphibs are all that and a bag of chips. I hooked mine up to my SeaHunter Mark 2 and was surprised at the difference. No wind noise and very comfortable and much louder and clearer. As soon as you get some extra sheckles in your poke, plop 'em down for a set of the Amphibs. I have always been a proponent of using the best possible 'phones to hear the targets clearly. There's a lot of info coming thru e'm from your detector and the better you can hear it, the better your chances of finding the loot!!
