Water Detecting- Hard Surface always-no trough's

goldnugget

Active member
Is it possible to find any signals in this type of detecting. I've been out above the waist and searched for hours. Occasionally I will find a fishing weight and leader and it might be down 6 - 8 inches.
It seems as the rip tides takes the sand and coins and jewelry to another location. I seach the waters in South Carolina and Florida.Just got back from Florida and the bottom out in the water had the ripple effect. In South Carolina, its hard bottom and I can't seem to locate any trough's. Will be heading toward Myrtle Beach in a couple of weeks.I've been detecting since 1979 so have found alot of coins after N'Easter's and Hurricanes,Excalibur user with 8 inch coil and Babb's Heavy Duty Scoop with S/Steel Tip.--all suggestion to gosports1@aol.com-Thanks

Sometimes in Florida we get large ripples of very soft sand after heavy wave action. Usually all I find in those conditions are pulltabs and bottle caps. Really not worth hunting.
