WAtched Bullitt tonight with Steve McQueen. One of the best car chases ever - back when they made real cars.

Nah, I had a 74 LTD that was a REAL car. I liked that puppy so well we drove it for 15 years and I wish I still had it. :) Just one bumper on that puppy had more metal in it than the entire bodies of today's cars. Had a 400 CID under the hood and got 19-21 MPG on the highway at 75 MPH plus. At 90 MPH it was so quiet inside that beast that you could hear a fly fart. :)

I miss the real cars. THese tin and plastic junkies they shuck out today just don't cut it.

We had a 73 about like that.. Those old fords were
tanks. Course, I still drive two old ford trucks..
A 68 F-250, and a 74 F-100.. I keep threatening to
sell the 74, but I'm too busy to mess with it..
I had a 67 LTD once that I really liked.. 390 in it..
That was a good car.
But with gas prices through the roof, I can't afford to
drive those big cars anymore. A bumper on a 74 LTD
probably weighs a third as much as the engine in my
05 corolla.. Needless to say, I drive *very* careful
in those little cars.. You get in a bad wreck in one
of those things, might as well hang it up..
I remember back in the late 60's when I lived in Merriam, KS..
A guy down the street worked at the local ford plant,
and naturally got the usual discount..
What did he drive? A 1968 shelby cobra with a 428.. Dark
navy blue..
That was one bad to the bone car.. Quite similar to
that one McQueen drove, but even better..
I remember he would start that thing up every morning
to warm it up.. Could hear the rumble all the way
down the street. And that was a new factory stock vehicle.
