Well, although I'm finding it hard to sit now(wallet is sore),I just got the boss(Wife,Better Half, etc.)to let me get a detector on that "fantastic plastic"! I WILL BE A REAL DETECTOR NOW!!!! Ordered a CZ-20 from Ron Coen at Accurate Metal Detectors in Corpus Christi,Texas.Talked to him on phone a couple times before, and saw he dealt with Doc before, and no complaints in the Feedback Forum. He made me a deal K-Co couldn't touch!Lots of useful freebies.Should be here next Thur.if Rita doesn't slow things down.Should give me time to practice before the Fla. trip.Won't be able to sleep for the next week,as if I did anyway. Thanks to all for your support, and wish me luck !!!!

How about "Old, clueless loser looking for pennies and pull tabs"?

Sometimes I get the distinct impression that's what most people think. People that approach you with a quizzical look on their face, goofy smile, head tilted sideways, and say "Do you ever find anything GOOD with that?" As if they already KNOW the answer is "Well, no...not really...I keep doin' it anyway though, 'cuz I'm kinda goofy like that..."

Duh... :punch: :stretcher:

All that money you spent on the machine is worthless unless you have a good scoop......Cheap scoops break or let the treasures slip through. Nothing worse than being on vacation with a great detector and your scoop breaks!

Congratulations, excellent choice. Now, the hardest thing to do will be to keep trying when you get on the beach and find that the stuff doesn't just jump into your scoop.

Learn how to ground balance (GB) the CZ before you get there. You can practice in your own yard. The GB may change whenever you change from water, wet, dry sand. There are two methods, use whichever one is better for you. That is what I found to be the hardest to learn. Hard to learn but not hard to do. I tend to be a little slow at learning new things.

When properly set up the CZ is a very quiet machine. Many times I start to think that it is not working and either pass my scoop over it or pass the coil near my beach shoe zipper. Sometimes it is good to hear a reassuring "Beep."

I still have trouble. Sometimes it kind of goes berserk and fills my ears with false hits, even with the sensitivity down to 1. I am still working on that one.

Watch your back. Don't push yourself. Start easy. Do the dry sand and the wet sand and very shallow water. Find a scoop that is comfortable for you. I have not found a long handled scoop that I like for dry or wet sand. I have a water one but am working on making a better one.

Good luck and Happy Hunting

Didn't even know he had one. It's an oldie, called a Jetco?has a RCA jack to the coil(maybe 6"),so I doubt it's waterproof.Wife wants to take it to Fla,to play in the dry stuff(Look out Ina),has anybody ever heard of one of these?
