Hi, I was just outside trying out my new Ultra Tinytec Pinpointer and found this key like item. Does anyone know what it is used for? it is made of steel or iron and is about 1.5 inches long'

maybe a part of a latch. see where it is rusted in the three spots? i am guessing that is where it may have been attached to the rest of the latch. but of course i am often wrong...:wiggle:

It could be a latch. The three rust spots are from welding the the front and back together. The back and front are identical. The welds can be attracted to a magnet but the rest of the metal is non magnetic. It does not look like brass or aluminum.

It is a SPAM can key...lol....I am just kidding...those definitely look like spot weld marks though....This is a new one on me...any writing or stamp marks on it?

It looks like a part of an old locking box type thing...where there could be a steel loop on the box, that would go thru that hole in the center of it, and then you would lock it with a pad lock????
