Didn't even know these things existed but I found one anyway. It's a beautiful looking coin and it has writing stamped around the outside edge." E PLURIBUS UNUM - IN GOD WE TRUST - 2007 D. It registered as a quarter at 6". Dug it up in sand closer to 8". I have no idea what the normal color of the coin is supposed to be.
I know it's not much but it was my best find today...and I'm stoked !

Thanks for the heads up Butch. Jerryrigg, I'm in California and I've been feeling a little guilty myself. That's why I"m posting my finds, to help my Midwest and Eastern brothers and sisters get through.

Love it! Those kind of finds add up fast in the end. Thanks for posting and HH, Nancy

we would dump the paper dollar and inspire people to use the $1 coins.

I know that I will often ask for 10-20 dollar coins in change at the bank and then put them back into circulation at various businesses. They brought them out for people to USE, not hoard and collect, and I sure with they would. So many reports from "up north" and "down under" by forum posters recovering their $1 and $2 coins sure can make you envious. I've been pulling 15-20 US dollar coins since the Sacajawea was released, but that's not many for a year of hunting while the other countries can produce those numbers in a month or a week for many hobbyists.

When you get change, ask for dollar coins and not paper. Do your part to help get circulation and acceptance up! :detecting:

PS: They all "read" in the US 25

Good idea Monte.

Monte,
I have to agree, we need to circulate as many of them as possible.
When I had my business I stocked Susan B's and Sacajawea dollar coins in my till to give out as change.
We gave out thousands over the years. We also gave out two dollar bills and halves in change.
I still carry a few of each in my pocket to raise eyebrows when I make a purchase.
Pretty soon they will all go the way of the three cent piece if no one uses them.

Can't wait til our government adds the $5.00 coin to the list of $1 and $2 coins like the Aussies. Hunting in parks can often yield $10 to $20 in finds for a day. Sure helps to pay for the batteries and accessories.
