Was wondering did I semi fry my Quattro.

Well it's been a while since I took out the old Quattro but kinda missed it. The only problem is I put some worn out rechargeables in it and they died right away. Then I put some Ac deco Alkalines in it and they only lasted like 7 and a half hours. Now correct me if I wrong but aren't the batteries supposed to last around 15 hours on a set of Alkalines for the Quattro and Safari. Or did I just get a bad batch of batteries or did I semi fry my detector by putting in those old rechargeables? Question has anyone else had bad luck with some Alkalines not lasting too long on there Quattro or Safari? I was using the internal speaker not headphones.

I think you're OK. Too little voltage isnt a problem. Plus, the external speaker use will suck a lot more juice than headphones. Just get some fresh batteries of any flavor and get back to swingin!

(yes, about 15hr on fully charged battteries; also never mix batteries as they revert to the weakest battery- this could have had something to do with your low hrs too)

Cool thanks i hunt without headphones in most cases dont like wareing them even though i know theres a slight advantage to them and they eat less batterys. From what ive been reading is some guys get 7 hours and up at times dependeng on battery type rechargeable etc. Guess safaris and quattros are battery hogs.

While I use Eneloop rechargables and love them, you might want to look into that new Li rechargable pack that is discussed in this forum. Pricey, but users are getting unreal hours out of it. Might suit your style of hunting.

I'm in agreement with KinTN. Headphones are not only advantage to extending battery life, but they'll also help you hear those barely noticeable sounds that are masked by outside noise and interference that's present with only the external speaker working. In addition, they offer privacy from inquiring pedestrians asking about your finds. GL
