Fast Track ground Balance... When you turn on the V3i it said if within 20 seconds of turning on..sweep the coil over ground and machine would GB.. Just sweep the coil a few times and machine GB's to the area.. IT works 100%. I checked readings, then Manual GB'd..it was the same.... A nice feature...
After that it tracks if you have the track feature turned on. After your done the program you are in returns to the bottom of screen so you know what your hunting in.. I'm sure you all knew this, but, if Like me there is another newbie..thought I would share this info.......

I think this might solve some Ground balance issues if you were in a trashed out park, though the machine tracks anyway, it would let you get started with a clean Ground balance rather than you trying to bob up and down with the coil, and maybe keep hitting some object under the ground.. Once Gb'd We can lock it for that area..if it's running smooth.. Just a thought on my part..... If I am wrong please tell me.

Yes Sir.. It does , and it was turned on Auto Track. I forgot to post that info.

I know you experienced V3i people know the above operation. I'm just now sorting through this Awesome machine, and thought it might help other newbies like me. I knew the machine had auto track..But I did not know it had the feature of fast Track when you first turn the V3i on......... My impression was you had to bob the coil after pulling trigger and pressing and holding Enter....... and I saw the fasttrack instructions and thought ..This is another way to GB....That I had not seen posted on the forum...............

Well Even with Auto Trac I always GB.I find that at some sites even with auto and fast trac selected at time my machine will act eratic and as soon as I manual Ground Balance it straightens out for 20-30 mins and I do it again,But I can always tell if it was needed. If it was needed when I find a clean area and pull my trigger, when I push enter it gives me a sound much like a longer drawn oute sound (same sound as normal but longer).JMHO

I mostly hunt the same sites so when I turn my unit back on for another hunt the GB is usually right on (you can tell as the arrows go back and forth fairly quickly). Since I hunt (now) in auto track it will fine tune it at startup. The key is to remember that autotrack comes on at the beginning though and not to let it tune to the air or one spot on the ground!

I have to say, my V3i has quieted down a lot since running autotrack. I no longer have those problems of crazy erratic behavior. The problem was rooted in some of my sites having too much metal to often find a place to GB and if I GB'd in a bad spot (slightly over a target) the unit would act up of course. Now auto track is right on. I run it at 10 which is a very low setting.
