Was at NJ Shore, LBI using 10" DD & VX3 salt water issues and SUPERMOON PICS

Hey all.... wanted to try and figure out if I was doing it right or not....I had my Vx3 on salt/beach mode..the icon said it was in that mode and my DD 10" coil was making sounds when I swung in the water like a rippling water moving sound??? then above the wet sand not in water I heard a longer beep when the swing changes from left to right or right to left. When I was over metals however I knew it as I found some trash encrusted with muscles and an aluminum cast shaft odf some kind, no pics of them though.

I did have interesting time as the supermoon effect took place around 2:30 pm everyday for a few hours as low tide created another few hundred feet of beach. Look at the pics. Otherwise Iam still learning the ropes in understanding the unit .

Once in salt beach mode, can I also use other modes for coin or relic, jewelry...etc... I had ground balanced manually a bunch of times to see if that helped, I believe it did. One last thing, when I turn on the unit, do I wait or ground balace as it's booting up,.... as the directions on the cover housing state, turn on, pull trigger hold enter, and raise coil 4 times... do I do it all really quickly, or wait till the 3 color bands show up for instance...

Thanks

Eric

You have to also select the "Salt Comp" in frequency selection.....:detecting:

to what setting? thnx

Goto page 34 of the manual,
Salt Compensate is the selection just under the 3 frequency selection in the Frequencies box.

Salt comp can be used with any of the Programs.....

In addition to Salt Comp, I would suggest the stock 950 on the salt beaches. I think the combination of the two adjustments will make a big difference.

Larry is right.
A concentric coil will work a lot better at the beach.
950 is a great choice:detecting:

I'm not sure if I understand some advice you were given but if you choose the salt beach program you will be in salt compensate mode by default and would not need to look or it anywhere else. if you were running any other program then you could select salt compensate to run with that program in the frequency section. When you get in the dry sand you can switch off salt compensate so the detector can be sensitive to small gold.

Wait and take your time, there is no hurry. You can also repeat at any time. Also forget about the 4 times. Do it as many times as it takes until there is no audio change. Make sure you release enter first then trigger when done, reverse order..

Thanks

That's great advice guys.
Thanks

Hey gang long time. Hope all is well. Just an FYI for the jersey beach guys here. The V3I loves those Jersey beaches. On the 950 I can usually run sensitivity pretty high usually 13-14. The machine seems to like the sand composition I can go much deeper in Jersey than I can go on New York beaches.

Thanks for the tip

I have the 950 coil and the d2 and 6x10 coils for my vx3. The 950 coil is the way to go for the beaches. I go to Cape may N.J. every year. I picked up a dime at 11" last year. Good luck

I use the 5.3 eclipse on the wet sand and the 10 DD on dry here in jersey they both do well on the beaches. I use the salt comp with the 5.3 in the wet and normal c&j on dry with the DD you will get some false signals but ive learned which ones are false and which ones to dig.
