Spent 1.5 hours with my Cortes in a small wooded area today. Got a shallow coin signal, kicked away the leaves, saw the 1941 Merc laying right on top of the ground. Then another shallow coin signal, a 1909 Barber quarter about 1 - 2 inches down. Then 3 inches from a small tree a 1919 Merc about 5 - 6 inches down. Shot gun shells too, maybe hunters lost the coins. Amazing, coins in the woods aren't deep at all. A good start for the new year.

Good finds !!! Sounds like you need to hammer that spot really hard. Good luck and HH.

Ya done great! Get some more hunting in before poison ivy and tick season!

Most woods around my neck of the woods get so much leaf build up that anything near the surface has been very new. I found a 40's to 50's era complete front bicycle wheel, with bad bearings, nearly a foot down. Bearings were still grease covered, not rusty but badly flat spotted. If the rim hadn't badly rusted, I could have done the bearings and sold it for a pretty penny. So far have not found the good "cellar holes".

Keep at it!

really good Jabbo! Exceptionally Good with some fine coins! "We" had a really good day in the woods too yesterday. After a 100 mile drive, me and some of my old buddies hit a hammered historic early1800's site. I said old guys now, I'm 72, Bryant is 69, and Bill and James right near 60. Bryant and I have had so many heart, back and colon surgeries that we debate as to who has the most scars. We are also bionic both having just gotten pace maker/defibs.We had to walk in 700+ yards just to get to the bottom of the hill where our site is located. Road is "wallered" out to bad by deer hunters for us to drive in, and me having 4W drive too, but wouldn't chance not boggin down. Anyhow, we had a great day scratching and jawing for the first time in over a year(naturally, health problems, lol) Between us we found 3-4 slick buttons from Jackson's troops, or maybe CW troops, 4 Buckey Balls, a couple of wheaties and 1 IH penny. Not much compared to some of our past trips there, but nevertheless, it was a good day and we had a really good time getting together again. That is what it is all about anyway! God has been good to us and we are looking forward to yet more of those Blessings, and hope the same for all hands swinging those coils. Be thankful every chance you get and you will get even more injoyment from every trip you make. HH Charlie
