Warranty provisions..

New member
I understand the new X-terra models 705 etc. that are replacing the current X-terra models are covered by a 3 year warranty....does this apply to old stock models 7 etc..or are they covered under the old warranty provisions..In other words if one bought an old stock X-terra 7 etc.now what warranty would it have...Discussion came up and inquiring minds would like to know...

I am pretty sure the 70 had a 2 year warranty? I do know when i bought mine ML was offering a 4 yr warranty. I got mine with that. So it may depend on when you bought it? Hope you find out, Beale.

I don't know exactly when it started. But prior to release of the new models, I saw some dealer websites listing the X-30, X-50 and X-70 as having a three year warranty. If I had to guess, I'd say it happened sometime after the 2-year extended service plan ran out, which I think was still around for the holidays. HH Randy

Interesting question Dan----I've been wondering the same thing myself, as there seems to be some confusion about the Minelab warranty (change)..---So, I called Minelab this morning and talked to Becky.--To anyone that's interested, here's Minelab's response: Prior to March 1st (with the exception of the Excalibur), their other detectors (including the Xterra's) had a 2 year warranty, with a 2 year ESP being available.---March 1st, "09 was the cutoff date on this warranty & the date the new warranty went into effect.--In other words, if you bought your detector prior to to 3/1/'09 you got a 2 yr. warranty and if you got a ESP with it at that time, you're "good to go" for 4 years.---After 3/1/'09, the 3 year warranty went into effect & the 2 yr. ESP was done away with.--After 3/1/'09, if you buy a new Minelab, (again, with the exception of the Excalibur) you get a 3 year warranty, PERIOD.----The part that I don't understand is on that comparison list that was posted-it had the 30, 50, & 70 with a 1 yr. warranty.--I mentioned that to Minelab and the spokes-gal said that wasn't right-it should have read "2 yrs."---If you're going to buy one of the earlier Xterras new off a dealers shelf, I guess the best thing to do would be call Minelab & ask them what warranty you're getting with that detector (before you close the deal).---If I was buying a new 30, 50 or 70, I think the biggest question I would want to know (regarding warranty at this time)--am I getting a 2 or 3 yr. warranty??---Hope this helps someone a little.------Del

I just bought a NEW X-Terra 70 on April 15th. My warranty card said warranty 3 years from date of purchace. The box mine came in was the new color graphic with the color outer sleave, not the brown cardboard old box:minelab:
