Minelab,s product warranty conditons, It States Not TRANSFERABLE, Thay wont stand behind thear PRODUCT!!! Thay must not believe in thear work!!! See i just bought this Explorer SE $1200.00 N i need to sell it, Whites has a Transferable warranty thats a + for theam,
I spent one week at home practicing N took it in the filed one time I will sell it for $900.00 or best offer, mickfin@sbcglobal.net
If no takers its going on E-Bay, My Whites Delears got a good deal for me on a new DFX or id swop for one, Thats really chicken of Minelab, Thank you, Mickfin,

Unfortunately all companies policies differ and certainly warranty provisions must be taken into consideration before purchasing. We all admit the first batch or so of original XS units had some problems that were quickly taken care of by Minelab and honestly Explorers after that had little or no problems. Owned a lot of different detectors and lost count of the monies it cost me trying them all...
If you really need the money several fine classifieds to sell but if its a matter of not understanding just run it in quickstart, do a lot of reading and perhaps a fellow clubmember can help you out as one can not become proficient with even a user friendly entry level unit in a week. Really letting a fine unit slip thru your hands and if you have any questions have a lot of gurus or perhaps learned explorer people to help on the forum. Remember Minelab U.S.A. has their rules and regs and no company offers any better service after the sale.In any case if you opt to sell good luck selling but post it on the classifieds or perhaps an auction if you see fit. Been there done that with other units and becomes a costly and learning situation at best...

The real only problems where with the first XS when they came out, but not saying some don't have a problem but the XS was the only ones I seen a problem with.
Now I think most people that have had a Sovereign or a Explorer and after the first day wish they never got it as it give too much info for a person to understand that has used a detector that does all the thinking for them. With the Sovereigns and the Explorers it give you the info for you to decide what to dig and what not too. I think it takes a good 20-40 hours of use to understand it and when you do everything will fall into place and it will be easy to use. Some don't have the patience to go out to use the detector and learn it as you have to use it to learn it and wind up selling it. Those that spend the time and get to know it are the one posting the great finds we see.
Any detector has a learning curve and takes a while to understand it and don't feel the DFX will be any easier to understand, but may be harder with the different adjustments to adjust or miss adjust.
Mickfin should ask how many were ready to sell their Explorers, but didn't and just spent more time with it and glad they did.

And I wouldn't buy a detector based only on a transferable warranty. If you having problems mastering the Explorer then a DFX may not be a logical alternative. This is not the classifieds either.

I sent a Quattro to minelab out of warranty and had it checked out because I didn't know how to hunt with it. I thought it had poor depth. Boy was I wrong! Read the manual then use it some. Then Read the manual then use it some. Then Read the manual then use it some more. Also detectorgear.com has some really good tips and setups. I know your pain but it takes some getting used to.

Been around many detectors and warranties over the years and Minelab U.S.A. certainly tops for quick, efficient, courtesy service...

I agree also...I felt like I had gotten the wrong detector :surprised:, but I am happy with my detector. And I would not give it up for anything. Love nor money:yikes:

If you really want to trash Mine lab, you should go to a Whites forum as the people here, you are going to find, are extremely loyal to Mine lab, their fabulous products, great customer service, and the millions of coins their machines have unearthed for them as a collective whole. I imagine the reason the warranty is not transferable is because the last guy who owned it might have submerged it in water, decided to tweak it himself, dropped it off his car roof doing 25 mph, etc. And may be the very reason he is trying to sell it. Or he is too lazy for this hobby or to be proficient at any other for that matter. I wonder if your concern about your non transferable warranty is because you think there is something wrong with your unit and you are afraid the person you sell it to will be angry with you, If that were the case you could send it to Mine lab, have any necessary repairs made, and then sell it in full faith it worked perfectly.

a partridge in a pear tree.

All of Minelabs products have been phenominal....to a point where I own backups. I have always been totally aware of their warranty as well as everyone else's. All of my backups are used detectors that I bought on the forums and I haven't gotten a bad one yet.

Try selling a Whites for what you can get out of a thoroughly used and abused Excalibur or for that matter a Sovereign no matter what age or model. I just sold a Whites PI Pro in perfect condition with 18 months left on a transferable warranty for about half of what I paid for it. That warranty certainly didn't help me sell it.

Look at Fisher and their CZ's with the lifetime warranty...I think it had something to do with the fire sale of the company.

I'd rather have a detector from a solvent company that I know will be there to support me when I need it.

In retrospect, you probably should have tried someone's SE or purchased a used one, before you made the plunge.

This forum has been a great learning experience and is pretty scary for novices like me who have read all posts from seasoned detectorists who have had their self esteem challenged by the STEEP learning curve.

I've often felt like the little train muttering to myself "I know I can.... I know I can" and you know something....I have...
