Found a small bag of mostly "curious but may be trash" stuff in the bottom of the equipment bag I brought back from the UK.

In the bag was a dirty encrusted button. Cleaned the button and was able to identify it as a "The East Lancashire Regiment" button. Don't know it's age but this regiment was formed in 1881 and disbanded in 1958. I suspect it's from the WWI era. Here it is:

I found one in better shape on E-bay that had been made into a "sweetheart pin". In this photo you can see what my button used to look like.

... the button would have been from the "Butterbean Regiment". Them babies are RARE!
