Warm December Day Hunt Makes Cents!

The weather forecast said it would get into the high forties and sunny and be a bit breezy…..well it was 41 degrees when we started hunting, and it was sunny and my oh my it was breezy! So it felt much cooler than the temperature was but Diane was a trooper…she hates cold…she kept detecting all day and never complained! We went to a field we had hit the previous Saturday with Doug, in which he got a Large Cent, Diane an 1865 Indian and I got a 1914-D Barber Dime. Hoping for more of the same kind of things we hiked the ¾ mile out in the cornfield to the site. Our rewards were in the form of relics, suspender buckle pieces and other typical field relics. We spent quite a bit of time there before we decided to move on. We went to another site where there had been a late 1800’s one room schoolhouse, I don’t know how long it was there but I believe until the late 1920’s. We did ok there we each got three Indian Heads and three early wheat cents. I also found a clay marble one of my favorite finds. As the sun was going down we decided to head home happy to get out in December and to make some finds.
