War Relic Find

My friend and I were able to get out today for a couple of hours. We had planned on going to a nearby lake but there was too much snow. We decided to go to a local park instead. I got this hit (12/45) at about 8 inches, thought I had a quarter but found this instead. At first I thought it was a U.S. Air force insignia until I wiped the dirt off, have to admit it sent a shiver down my spine. I did a quick Google search when I got home, not sure if it is authentic, but if it is is looks like it is from the Third Reich.

hummmfound in u.s. ??might be fraud..:detecting:

That is a cool find... I imagine some vet or a vets kid lost it. My dad sent back lots of stuff from Japan.

well down here in texas we had german pow camps. these camps were used to show germans the nice american way of life. they would let the german guys work for the state by cleaning parks and doing civil work in the comunity. they could buy things and talk to people and were treated good. some became friends of americans and wrote letters back to there american friends for years after they were returned home.
so there actualy could have been a camp near your area.
hard to find the info on these camps but i know of 2 within 30 miles of me so im sure there were more around the country.

Prior to the war America had a sizeable NAZI party. You might have found a pin lost by one of those people. There were many suppoters of the NAZI's here in the states in the early 30's.

Might have been used by a kid who took it out of dad's souveniers to trade for baseball cards. I personally had taken a German belt buckle from home and wore it when we played army, hence I was one of the Germans.

Don't Know where you are in Texas , But my father in-law lives in the middle of the old Fort Bowie.I found some good info on it on google

im east of houston but i hunt all over texas.
i havent done much research on any of the forts in texas cause most of them are off limits to detectors.

I am in central Indiana and we had a German POW camp near our town. One of the guys escaped and swiped chickens and raided gardens but gave himself up when he figured out how far from the coast he actually was. They did make some friends here and I was told that at least two of the prisoners relocated here after the war. Interesting find.

Interesting on all the theories as to where this came from. Personally I think it may be from an Idaho invasion that our government took care of "under" the covers as it were! Heh, I think the others are more realistic though! Hmmm, is that blood on the back of that thing?

That's a cool find. We had a couple of German prisoner of war camps here in my Ohio town too. It could very well be authentic.
