War of 1812 button..

brandon

New member
Hit this spot for the umpteenth time after smallmouth fishing and got my third 1812 button from the spot. Also starting to trust the X5 and not digging as much iron as I usually do.

I put it in some linseed oil and stooped the patina from flaking off. I'll look it up in a bit. glad to see detecting is still allowed in some of the historic sites. I found the button right behind the monument. The silver button was close by and at the same depth.I don't know what the U.S. badge? with crossed rifles was used for though. Any I.D.ers. Have a good one.

I think it is a falcon. It caught a starling and was plucking the bird alive. I tooked these picks as it screached the whole time. It is amazing some of the things we get to witness outdoors.

.... some type of equipment ID tag based on the prong looking thingy ... that would have held it to a saddle / cartridge box, etc or perhaps a wooden box. Gust a guess. All nice finds. Congrats.
