So, i haven't been out in about 3 weeks and today I went to a local park. 1st dig was the IH then a few deep wheats. I had another deep copper sounding item and it turned out to be this button. It was deep and in a very old park. I've never seen one, but it was ID'd as an artillery botton from the war of 1812.....pretty cool!

Next park 1st dig...another IH penny from under the roots. The in line probe really helps in that environment for sure.

That button is super.
Wouldn't you like to know how it got there ?

Thanks guys for the nice words. My guess is that there was an artillery group stationed at this park since it is so close to a major waterway. If I did enough research, I am certain I could discover much more about the origin of it.

Really cool button.

That is a good looking button. Nice find.
