Just another day in paradise. Took the Pro out walking the median strips again. Found an elementary school that covered an entire city block. Beingas our schools are all fenced of these days I decided to try the median strips where the parents drop the kids off for school. I set the AT in pro mode, 35 Descrim and sensitivity at 3 bars below max. I'm of and running.
Hit a few memorials, then right in front of the school entrance got several dime hits at 81 VDI. Then I got a 48,49, 48 VDI used my homemade probe and pulled out a 43P nickel. I rarely see those any more. Most of the time I use my probe for recovering coins at 4" or less. Makes a nice clean slit in the grass and covers back over very nicely. My probe is a two prong probe with each prong being about 4" long. I used a round shank from a medium sized screw driver for the shaft. The shaft is about 6" long. I cut the driver handle off and drilled out a golf ball and glued it on. I then welded the two prongs on all of that. Prongs are sharpened Phillips round blade screw drive shafts. Have had it for 3 years and it's never bent or broke. Works great for popping out coins. Cuts the recovery time way down as opposed to digging with a lesche.
Mean while back the ranch, I detected the entire city block of median strips. Got 4.80 in clad, 3 wheats and two war nickels, 43P, and a 40 war nickels, 37, 43 and 55 wheats. Grat day for a walk with the pro.
