A Hair long to explain,
I wanted a more passive noise reduction headphone from the outside noise so I purchased the larger bodied single volume (single volume being my preference) Detector Pro brand headphones (Bushmaster model) to get more of a higher decimal rating for outside noise than my standard smaller bodied single volume Killer Bee's. I liked the Detector Pro headphones a - lot but sent them back. The reason I returned them was when I placed the volume control at a certain notch about 3/4 volume the volume was just a little to low but when placed on the next volume notch up they were way to loud. Detector Pro needs to put in a more finite volume control like the Killer Bee phones this would solve that problem for me. The vendor (Relic Hunter Supply) was great and I would by again from him in a heart beat he totally understood my situation, he let me return the headphones and said he would discuss a more finite volume control option with Detector Pro for the headphone. I really liked the headphones and they sounded great and wished they had worked out for me, they were made very well. I would suggest trying them to anyone because others may not have the same issue with the headphone that I did. IN DEFENCE of the product I have really super good hearing and am more sensitive to a finer volume control on my headphones this has always been a problem for me when buying headphones.
* Still wanting more outside noise reduction I kept searching for a good single volume headphone and took a chance on the Koss QZ99 passive reduction headphones to get more outside noise reduction and there great. There a little more bulky (built very solid) and don't fold up like the Killer Bee's or Bushmaster, Grey Ghost Detector Pro phones. Kellyco sells the Koss QZ99 passive noise reduction phones for around $80.00 but I found them on Amazon for $37.00. This is why I took a chance on them and purchased them to try. They were a great purchase and ended up being what I wanted. They have great sound, built well like a tank, they have a single volume control which I prefer, they fit well and really knock down the outside noise (great for surf hunting to keep the noise down). Koss also says on the box they were designed for metal detectors. They were a 1/4 the cost of the Detector Pro headphones and the volume control has a real nice finite control allowing you to dial them in how you like.
