Want to upgrade?

At the moment I am using a Land ranger pro and want to upgrade. Relic hunt mostly, not a coin hunter. I have narrowed it down to 3 detectors. F75, T2 and x-terra 705. I really, really like the automatic ground tracking on the x-terra. Just not sure it will go as deep as the other two. Where i detect the ground changes rapidly. Would like to hear from some of you that use one of these for relic hunting, and your thoughts. Thanks

Never used a 705 so cannot comment on that machine,did use a F75 for a while and enjoyed it but my vote will have too go for the T2,mine is not even one of the super duper models but has served me well for 10 years,depth wise well that is of course subject to the coil size and the ground that you are hunting on.I use coils that are much bigger than the stock 11'' one upto 17x15 the BIG Nel coil and this combination does punch deep but its a heavy coil,but if i wanted a large coil that i can swing all day on the T2 then it would either be the NEL Storm or the SEF 15x12 both similar depth performance but also still very good on smallish coin size item as well.

Depth wise i wont quote any figures but on pasture they dont miss much for sure and of course the larger the coil then you will gain slightly more depth,the T2 does 90% of my requirements depth wise,if i want ultimate depth when hunting for large artifacts or hoards then the Nexus MP or Whites TDI with large coils come out too play,you do of course gain amazing depth with these 2 machines with big coils strapped on them but then you of course incur some downsides like not as sensitive on small coin size items and also nulled signals as well,another advantage is ground coverage.The art is of course and the skill set of the operator when and which coil too use as no one coil cover every situation.

I have rapidly changing ground conditions as well and the ground tracking is a worthwhile feature to have but the 75 (and probably the T2 as well) has the Fast Grab feature which allows you to re-GB with the flip of a toggle switch. I'm not familiar enough with the 705 to comment on it , but the manners of the 75 let you know when your ground is changing so you can quickly adjust the setting if necessary. It's hard to beat the raw power of both the 75 and T2 and the SE models have the boost and cache features.

Right now the F75 and T2 are on special - the so called “+” models (which are the same as the top of the line ones with Boost) are on sale with a free digger and one of the new First
Texas pinpointers for $649 and $549 respectively.

Thanks so far, and I know about depth one person gets in one state, will be different in another. For that mater even a few 100 yards it can change.
For now it would be using the stock coil.

I'll forgo comment on the other two machines, but for the 705: I'd take a pass. As your surmise: It lacks depth. Since it's an attempted cross-over (nuggets AND relic/coins), it therefore has compromises in each dept. I was very disappointed in it, when compared to other machines I'm accustomed to using.

I liked my 705, a good all rounder but it wasn't deep deep, and i believe it was because of built in filtering.
It's a nice quiet user friendly detector, but that comes at a cost to depth, when a deep machine finds say a coin just on the edge of detection, right where it starts to be called ferrous/non ferrous, the 705 is cut before this happens so you can't hear the deep targets that leach into the ground zone.

Since you are primarily a relic hunter and are already accustomed to Fisher/Tek, I'd add the F19/G2+ to that short list.

I don't have an F75 or T2 to test but from the comparisons I have seen the 19 kHz machines are not as deep on high conductors. I haven't seen videos comparing low conductor depth but I wouldn't be surprised if the F19/G2+ equaled or bettered the F75 or T2's depth on lower conductors such as small gold, lead, brass or iron. If you plan on searching nail or other junk iron laden sites, separation and recovery speed might be more important than depth alone.

Right now the F75/T2 machines are a better deal at their special price.

Very good choice. It's an excellent relic machine.

you will like it, the only thing to consider is

the T2 has a better iron range for relics than the F75
the T2 is not back light like the F75
the T2 can not use concentric coils, the F75 can.
the T2 does not save your setting when powered off the F75 does.

aside from that, there is very little difference in performance

I like the T2. Put it together went out side where I burn my trash in a 55 gallon barrel. Had it in single tone, discr 4, sens 95. I could pick the barrel up about 3 feet away (guessing). I put it in bp mode. Sens about 88, i backed up about another foot, until I could no longer get it. Then flipped it i to cl mode. It came in loud and clear. WOW, i could get it about 5 feet away. I know it's an air test and I know it's a 55 gallon barrel. I also know there is no way any of my other detectors could do this, i know. Thumbs up

From now on I will keep what I find out about detectors to myself. I was not aware you had to deal with wise-cracks on here. I thought this was a place people come to find out information. I have messaged to Mr Dave J about the T2 before I bought it to find out it's capabilities. If anyone wants to know anything about any detector just ask basstrackerman, he knows it all.
