Want to get an 8 inch coil...

Doug[Manila]

New member
I'd like to get a minelab coil insted of the aftermarket ones...is the tornado 8 and the BBS 800 similar in performance? I use a Sov XS2aPro.

Doug,I have used the Tornado 800 and it really has worked for me.The coil has good sound tones, excellent at separating targets.I compared targets with my friends CZ70 with an eight inch coil, and found the Tornado 800 to be deeper.I purchased a used Sunray 8 inch coil and after comparing both coils in my coin garden and air test sold the Sunray.Right now I use the BBS 1000 with a four foot cord and I think this coil gets better depth even on dime size targets. There are Sovereign users that think the Tornado 800 coil isn't a very good coil.I disagree and have found this coil to perform well.

Doug,

I haven't had a chance to use the 8 inch Tornado coil yet, but have the 10 inch on my GT and really like it. I am not a great fan of the 8 or 10 inch BBS coil as they never got the depth like the older coinsearch coils and found the Sun Ray S8 was my choice for a 8 inch coil if I couldn't us a coinsearch. Now with the 10 inch Tornado coil I find it is a coil I like and feel the 8 inch tornado will also be a good coil as you notice they are no used ones available so it is a sign those that have them like them.
I hope to try out one one of these days, but until then my 10 inch Tornado will have to do or I will use my 8 inch Coinsearch I have.
