Want to get a new detector for my birthday. What do you think I should get?

I have the F5 for when I need it's features.
I have the Golden for when I need the Cleansweep coil.
I have the CZ70Pro for those times I coin hunt old turf.
I'm getting another CoinStrike in a couple of weeks for my mineralized sand spots

But I'm trying to decide on what I want for my b-day. Something that will compliment what I have.
Kind of tossing around a G2 or a V3i.

I could use the G2 as a clean up machine and a prospector.
I could use the V3i as a high trash turf unit.

Dunno what I want to do...

What do you guys think?

Ps... a couple of silver rings from yesterday morning. Sorry for the poor photography.

i think a fisher F75 or T2SE would be dangerous in your hands, after reading dankowkis COMPILATION #1 and #2 sounds like you can do amazing things with those two machines with a little tweeking hh

to be honest, think ya got it covered pretty well!
maybe one of those "newfangled" german detectors
i see in western & eastern?..just sayin'

(h.h.!)

Lets see if its the Indian or the Bow!...find the cheapest entry level piece of junk and see if you can make it work...Even if you just did it for one weekend, it might help in our appreciation of our modern gear, and it would be a great challenge to and an exhibit of your skills! I'm betting you'd still find some great stuff! Hey, if you buy one from Walmart, you could always take it back!
Otherwise, I'm in jmaryt's camp....dont listen to ez!...Mud

ok why do u need another detector when u got the f5 mike thoght the f5 was supposed to be such a great detector i mean mine seems to be doin good least for zink and beercans.

Definitely have a play with the V3i before laying cash or a CC on the table. I bought one when they first appeared and the learning curve wasn't so much a curve more like a vertical... SO many settings! :rage:

Yep. I have owned the V3i before. It is a nice detector, but had trouble in my minerals. But if I only used it in turf it would do fine.
But the G2 would be a better fit. I've already got all the coils, and I could use it more than I could use the V3.

I dont have a G2, but I DO have a GB pro. Same machine, different rods. The thing is AMAZING in moderate/ heavy iron. Basically anywhere masking targets are a problem. By far the best separation of any machine I have ever used, and I've used a few. I know you like your F5, but the G2 will blow it away. literally. Depth is comparable, but the separation abilities of the G2 are much better than the 5. SUPER easy to use too.
I used my Pro at a heavily iron ridden Salt beach last week for the first time, and was very very pleased with its performance.
The only down side I can think of its is poor battery life, but I can live with that if the performance is there.

I'm intrigued to know why the F75/T2 hasn't been a consideration given all the positives these machines have?

I'd really like to own a T2 but the price tag on a secondhand unit here is $1,145

I know it's not a depth demon, but the Gold Bug (Se, DP, Pro) is a really good wet salt sand unit for sniffing out targets in iron laden beaches. It ground balances and runs really smooth in the wet sand.

Dofbeer,
It is difficult to find units that work well in my two primary enviromental conditions: black sand and high EMI.

I am one of the original prototype testers for the T2, and a field tester for the F75. They are most excellent machines. Some of the few, true multipurpose metal detectors made. Also some of the few machines that work well in my black sand minerals. I used them both nearly exclusively for over a year each. But they are difficult to use in my high EMI environment. Maybe a bettter word would be "unfriendly". When I could find EMI friendly enviroments for their use, when all I had to listen to was ground noise and targets, I loved using them. But when EMI couldn't be mitigated, it added to the noise level so much that they became "unfriendly" for use. So while I foundly look at them and often recall their features and abilities, while I continue to live here, I'll not buy one.

Holy crap, really  that's a pretty exclusive job! Well my limited advise on those 2 detectors is about as useful as a chocolate tea pot then lol!

It's a pity those 2 units suffer from EMI interference but I suppose it's a trade off. Luckily for me EMI isn't so much of a problem in my neck of the woods.

I'll watch this thread, would like to see how well the V3i performs if you decide on that model..

Hi Mike, in past treads I read than just the G5 and Omega haven't problem with EMI, but in a recent post in a Fisher Forum saw a post from Dave J. where say this issue was fit using cable coil thicker... correct me if I'm wrong, I don't remember the date but exist. HH.Jorgevc

Have you swung a Minelab yet?

I've had several Explorer's and several Xterras. I like the Explorers, they are excellent slow motion hunters with a lot of ability. Not very fond of the Xterras though I tried hard to like them and kept trying them.

I have thought about another Explorer or Etrac but I have the CZ70 Pro so its not a consideration. Did you know that the CZ70 Pro was created to compete with the Explorer?
