I owned the Master Hunter CX previously, and I have mixed feelings about it. If you are a relic hunter, it is a decent machine, as it does have a true all metal mode but not the manual ground balance, so your depth is pretty good. However, it doesn't have the Power Master Circuitry, which gives some of the other Garrett Machines a 20% advantage in overall depth. If you are hunting in the woods, it is not the most ergonomically designed machine, as all the movement is done with your wrist, and you should probably also order the elbow cuff to relieve muscle strain. However, if you are just using it in a more level environment, such as a park or field, you should do just fine.

Now if you are going to hunt a lot of coins, it isn't the best coin hunter hunter out there. The GTP or GTI Series Detectors have the ability to size an object and allow you to make a fairly good guess of its size. These models are a little lighter in weight too, but if you tend to hunt a lot, that isn't really a problem, as you build up strength and tolerance to a heavier machine.
So, the Master Hunter CX is a fairly decent machine, with a variety of coils available for it. It will give you a depth reading and probable target ID. It also has the ability to discriminate out unwanted targets such as tinfoil and pull-tabs. this machine was always one of Charles' Favorites. Good Luck on whatever machine you order..... It's a tough decision buying your first detector. Just keep asking questions. We have all been in your shoes too at one time.
