All depends on the tuning as their are hot and cold ones in each...CZ6A is the oldest and weather resistant while the CZ5 basically is the same without weather resistant features and an added outside speaker and parts are at a premium from Fisher repair.
CZ3D is the newest of the lot and offer the newest technology and above all is still being made thus parts are available. As far as depth and performance just about the same but has an old and new toggle that sort of gives you 2 units in one so would opt for the CZ3D. Again anyone of the above properly tuned would make a nice unit so would suggest some research and its your call.
I have owned a cz 7a pro, cz70 pro, and a cz5, and of them all the cz5 is my favorite. They are all very deep detectors but it comes down to digital or analog preferences. I prefer the analog for its more precise adjustments.
Not that familiar with the CZ line. Which are analog and which are digital?
CZ-20 - Analog
CZ-21 - ?
CZ-6 - Analog
CZ-6a - Analog
CZ-5 - Analog
CZ-7a - ?
CZ-70 - ?
CZ-3D - Digital
Is this correct and what are the missing ones, I like analog myself and have Garrett GroundHog and Whites 5900 Di Pro SL so analog works.
What was the best of the CZ analogs?
If defining analog as knobs and meter, where digital is push pad and screen....
CZ-20 - Analog
CZ-21 - Analog
CZ-6 - Analog
CZ-6a - Analog
CZ-5 - Analog
CZ-7a - Digital
CZ-70 - Digital
CZ-3D - Analog
Me personally, I think the 6a was the best one since it was in a water resistant case. I have two, and they are great all around units that can hunt in rain storms and even in the surf as long as it is not totally dunked underwater.
I have the CZ6A which cost 1000.00 in 1993 . It is still able to match depth, pin-pointing accuracy. target I.D. and other features with most of the high end machines on the market today. The unit is heavier than some such as the Ace detectors. It does not have notch discrimination. It has great salt water capabilities being water repellent but not submersible. It is also very good on nickles. The CZ3 is the current version of the analog CZ`s . The CZ 5,6 ,6a can be up to 13 to 15 years old, so I would personally try the machine out before buying. Hope this info helps.
