Want Plastic Bags......

Maybe you can help....! When I'm out looking for gold on dry stream beds, I need a way to collect "shovel fulls" of sand & gravel to label, and transport back for panning out at home. Paper grocery bags don't get it. You wind up with a car full of dirt and split bags. I need some heavy duty plastic bags that'll hold 2, or 3 gallons, seal-able would be better. I've checked E-bay with out any luck. Any ideas out there for a source would be appreciated. I just want a few, not 500+ Thanks, Ron.

Heavy-Duty contractors garbage bags at your local WallyWorld would work.

Go to a local bakery and ask them to save you some frosting or donut glaze buckets. They come in 2, 3, and 5 gallons and have lids you can snap on and pop off. They also have handles.
I work in a small grocery store and our bakery goes thur two or three in a week. I would think that a large bakery could get you a couple dozen in a short period of time.

That is the way I go. I get ore that way and take it home to pan out.

Great idea except I drive a Scion XB. A half dozen buckets and I'll have to drive sitting out on the hood !
Yeah maybe I deserve it, but it gets 35 MPG :clapping: I can still almost fill my tank for a 20 dollar bill !

of plastic buckets. I hang onto our laundry soap buckets (CostCo's Kirkland brand) but other suggested sources can be good as well. They 'fit' and/or stack better than plastic bags, and I've had super-durable bags get torn or punctured.

Call Miners Inc. @ 1-800-824-7452 and ask for catalog or tell them what you are looking for.
They supply Geologists and Engineers with them and have ALL kinds of sample bags made for
what you are doing.

Go with the buckets for now and in a couple weeks, you'll have enough gold to buy a new Ford F-150. Then you can just shovel it right into the truck bed.

Those galvanized metal tubs work great for hauling dirt. I used mine today, in fact, when doing some yard work. I have three of them, but they may not be the same brand as shown in this image that I found on the Internet. They can be bought at a hardware store.[attachment 140162 GalvanizedTub.jpg]

While we're at it guys, are those metal containers what you use to pan out your aluvial bring home? Looks good but I think you'd have to keep a quart of Quaker State poured in to keep down the nasty little Mosquitoes.

I have two words for you: Sand bags.

Yoiu can get them empty, ready to fill.

Good idea
And use those orange safety cones to act as a funnel for shoveling dirt into. They come in different sizes. There is actually collapsible too.
