Wanna see some "Fisher Quality"

I ordered this detector brand new and it came in today. Look at how the box is mounted about 10 degrees "off kilter". There is no adjustment as the bracket is riveted in this position. Also I read how good they are suppose to be in air test. I could get a good reading on a dime at only 8". My old Advantage is better than this! Shame on you Fisher-I spent a lot of money for this junk. Fortunately I have a great dealer who has another one in the mail to me. I'll let you know how the next one is.

tough night!..still hung over!

My CZ only got 8" at my normal setting-I was able to get 10" at the stablest higher setting. I was indoors and don't know if that made a difference. You did say "dime", didn't you? Most of my other detectors only get about 6-7"(measured).

I know the feeling...Had new CZ-21 that only got a quarter at 2.5 inches air test...Sensitivity control did not work...Had to go back before I could ever use it. On a properly tuned 3-D you should get 11 inches air test on a dime. There are other test you can do to see if properly calibrated right. Unless you got an early serial number machine that probably came with lifetime warranty, you might not have a properly calibrated unit. Make sure you have a good one before you accept it.

I have 3 CZs, the CZ 3d,CZ 5 and the CZ 70 and 90 % of the time I use the 5" coil. The 5" coil is deep.
I hunt in Zero disc. I want to hear the iron.
I run the Sens at 2,3,4.
I run the Vol at 5.
Normal or Enhanced mode.
The lots that I hunt are old and have a lot of trash, I dig a lot of trash,I feel that it might be masking something good...
The CZ does better with a slow sweep and not so good with a fast sweep.
You are going to dig trash with any unit,so get use to it.
Go to the Fisher site and read Tom Dankowski's Fisher Intelligence.
Good luck and HH.

How does it do on targets in the ground? My cz3d doesn't air test good either, but will hit a dime nicely past the 8" mark in the ground. HH jim tn

Hello MXTerer,

sorry to hear that about you new tool, but I think the dealer isn't that great as you make it. As a great and reputable dealer he would have checked the detector's shape, condition and functionality before delivering. This will save HIS money and give best reputation to the customer.

More luck with your second.

If thats a 3D you might want to check the calibration on it before you send it back. Then check the calibration on the new one. If one is off, keep the other one and keep the rod that is straight. Tom Dankowskis' web site has info. on how to check. Just a thought.

Please, let's do not jump on a dealer this quick. some dealers DROP SHIP their detectors if they do not have that one in stock . I have bought some from different states, more than once with that being the case. Do not know about this particular situation, but neither do you. I do agree if a dealer had it in stock at the time he should have checked it out..I bought a NEW 3d once and it air tested a coin at 3 inches. That was a forum dealer from out of state,so apparently he did not check it. The problem was taken care of without a hitch. I am sure it will all work out. Maybe not the DEALERS fault though..jmho

You read wrong in toms dvd says that the 3d is not good at air test, but in the field it will go as deep or deeper than the f75.I cna hit a dime at 10-12 inches here in my soil, and i can run the sen at 10,so no minerals here.

Which coil? What's the air test depth? I get around 10" in the air on mine with the 8" coil. It gets around 7" in the air with the 5" coil.

Went out w/my CZ-5 today and hit a zincer at 7" with sensitivity set at 2 because I didn't want to dig so many deep pulltabs in my quest for my first ring since I've started using my CZ again. The screwdriver (10") had the shaft all the way into the hole. I guess next time I'll run it at "0".:fisher:
