Walking Liberty Morning

I'm on vacation at Stinson Beach CA and I've been hunting this beautifully lonely place. I got up at 4AM, put my headlamp on and hunted the point over at the inlet. All I was finding was aluminium and then I found this beauty. It's my second silver coin ever.

Thanks, HH

WOW! Beautiful coin from a beautiful part of our state!

Very nice find and only your 2nd silver. Bet ya did a happy dance that morning.:)

Thanks Everbody, I'm going out tomorrow morning. I'll let you all know if I find anything.

One of the most beautiful coins ever made - and you found an older one that's in real nice condition - congrats ! :clapping:
From what I've seen posted over the years ( and from what I've found ) most of the Walking Half's that are dug have1940's dates on them.

Maybe it's just the lighting in the picture or the way it's worn, but does that look like a 1917/8 date error to anyone else? I don't see that as a known error listed in the Red Book, but that number there jumped out at me immediately when I brought the picture up.

Great find, no problem on hearing that silver. ----------- The 1918 looks like 1918 to my good one eye with 10x on. ------------after1---------------

Thanks for valuing me in to the 1918/7 error. I looked closely and mine seems to just be a 1918. I'm headed to the Yuba River in a few days. My friend owns 5 acres that used to be a campsite for gold miners. Also the river should be some good snorkle hunting.

Thanks for sharing. it looks like the Sun is Shining on you and on the coin Does it have a Mint Mark on the back - goldnugget

Congratulations Zac! That's a beautiful Walking Liberty half. The color looks really nice, unlike the way silver comes out here in west Texas! Best of lick and...

Happy Hunting!

That's a good one. Congrats.

I have a 1917 Standing Liberty that is my favorite coin. They are beautiful, all the Liberty coins are. Found it by an old freshwater pier. You lucky dog. Especially in that area. We are up the Oregon coast and was going to do Stinson when we retire in a year. Maybe we will see you around. By the way my van got broken into at the Yuba river ,right at the bridge, so be careful don't leave your stuff unattended or out of sight.
We too are the dawn patrol.
