walking cane=detector

I am interested in finding a schematic with IC chips that can be connected to form a simple BFO metal detector that can be fitted into a homemade walking cane. I ride a bicycle and sometimes have to leave it outside to shop or whatever, and with such a setup I could take it w/me without being conspicuous. Thanks.

You could get a vibraprobe ore something similar and gut it, and hollow out the bottom of the cane and put the coil down there, and the circuit at the top somehow. I saw a cane at the FBI headquarters with a shotgun built into it. Capone's I think.

Thanks. I have that and another schematic that I'm looking at. The coil would be positioned at the bottom-there are several walking canes for the more serious handicaps that have such a round support on their bottom end, albeit most of them are four-pronged. I'm not particularly worried about the park rangers. I love to ride the bicycle and you just can't leave things attached to the bike when you go into an establishment-a cane, on the other hand, would look natural if you carried it into the store or whatever, especially since I'm 62. Also, at tot lots I think the BFO would be the best because it has a natural discrimination of small iron nails, paper clips, hair pins, etc. WITHOUT rejecting the smallest of gold items, including small gold chains. I have proved this with my Garrett Hunter (60's model), but it is cumbersome to use,, much less to carry around. HOWEVER, now that you mention it, my mind is thinking of the possibilities of getting into some places that others cannot get into because of such a grand display of equipment.

You had better walk to the park, be homeless, broke, and be prepared to lose your shoes...

Otherwise you can lose your vehicle, have every relic in your home seized, and pay an 100,000 dollar for fine using something like this in the wrong place and I can't imagine any other use for it.

I was joking about the shoe thing....

don't anyone get any ideas, it's not worth it.
