Walker #3 from the farmstead.

Hello fellow MDer's

I did a little history research and found a school site that was on the 1917 plat book but not the 1940, figured might be a good site with little modern trash. It's a field now and turned out to be a total bust.

Went back instead to the farm site I've been having some success at. Had on the WOT and reworked a couple of areas that I had hit lightly.

Got a couple more coin spills. The first one hit like a wheatie. Found something good with the periscope and first coin out of the hole was a 1937-D Buffalo nickel. I knew right away that there must be some higher conductivity coins in the same hole, didn't hit anywhere close to nickel. First found a wheatie, didn't think that alone would be enough to average that nickel up to where the hit registered, probed some more and got a deeper screamer, big silver disc came up, was hoping barber but no, third walker from the site and all three were part of coins spills. Then got one more wheatie out of the hole.

I had the same experience when I met up with Rick and James of ND. Dug a war nickel out of a hole and then thought- "That isn't right". A Franklin half then popped out and everything made sense.

Also got a signal that hit about in the middle right of the screen, not something that I would normally dig, but for some reason did. Two nickels and a merc dime all sandwiched together.

Had one more strange spill. Seemed much like a hot rock, several high right hits that seemed to shift around. Dug one wheatie and then a couple of other distinct signals became apparent. Got another wheatie and thought I had a big silver but it turned out to be a large copper handle from something. I think this would have been an easy one with a coil any smaller than the WOT. WOT does wonders even in heavy iron, but throw a bunch of higher conductivity targets in a small area and it gets tricky.

Nothing old and a crappy picture(I had already put the coins away and didn't feel like combing everyone's hair and putting Sunday clothes back on for another group photo). Pretty sure everyone knows what Walkers and Mercs look like.

There sure is a lot of Coin Spills in that spot of yours for some reason. I have yet to pull a Half this year and it doesn't look good for detecting this weekend either due to Thunderstorms. But it will give me more time to dig up more research this weekend so it won't be all bad, but I will miss getting out for the weekend and finding more Silver. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH!

Tony,

I run open screen except for crown caps X'ed out, ferrous sounds, gain 7. Only difference is that with the WOT usually have to turn down the sensitivity a little, it is a big antenae and tends to do worse near power lines.
